What is a Home-Based Business? 
 
Answer: 
 
RON BLUE: Over the years of being on radio and television programs, 
I’ve done a lot of question and answer things, and one of the questions 
that comes up a lot is the idea of a home-based business. The 
question goes like, “I’m thinking of doing this business. Have you 
heard of it, and what do you think of it?”  
 
I know that Larry Burkett spoke a lot to home-based businesses, 
because there’s some real value in home-based businesses. We can 
talk about many benefits to home-based businesses, but basically 
home-based businesses are just any business done at home. It might 
be something you create or it might be some company that operates 
through home-based type women—and others—it’s generally direct 
sales, and it’s almost always done on a part-time basis.  
 
My wife, Judy, has been involved in home-based business for about 
ten, eleven, twelve years. 
 
JUDY BLUE: Eleven years. And I would like to say, that in addition to 
just the technical explanation, home-based business is a great 
opportunity, and it’s also a great adventure. To be able to have the 
personal freedom that comes with having a home-based business—and 
to be able to do it around your goals, and around the values of your 
family—is a real asset. 
 
 
 
RON: That’s true, I kind of approach this as giving advice, “Is it a good 
idea?” Yeah, there’s some really, really good home-based businesses. 
But my wife has been in it for about twelve years—a home-based 
business—and she has seen some phenomenal personal benefits that 
have come from that.  
 
So, there’s differences in home-based businesses, but a home-based 
business all by itself is certainly a legitimate, valid, alternative to 
increasing some income for, especially stay-at-home moms, or single 
moms, or women who want to stay at home, and want to generate 
some other income—home-based businesses can be a very legitimate 
alternative.
